Title: Assessment/ Student Debate

Lesson Overview

The students will demonstrate their knowledge of human genetics through a well developed debate. Students will apply genetic concepts and evaluate current research being done in the field of genetics today. Students will develop a logical argument to either support or denounce genetically modified (GMO) animals for human consumption. Students will connect what we have learned throughout this unit and present the information as a debate.

Objectives

Students will debate the historical, moral and ethical considerations for eating and using genetically modified animals.Students will explain what genetically modified means.

Students will fill out an effort rubric and reflect on how they think they did in the debate and how their group preformed in the debate.
